Sidewinders / by William W. Johnstone, with J.A. Johnstone.
Scratch Morton and Bo Creel are decent, likable drifters, their youth far behind them, who live by their wits and take "cowboy" jobs to make a few dollars to keep drifting with. Though basically honest, Scratch and Bo aren't above breaking the law, especially those against spitting in public in Texas and vagrancy in Missouri. At first glance, Scratch and Bo seem like simpletons, but enemies would underestimate them at their own peril. Both are quick and deadly gunmen. And when they get tangled up with two competing stagecoach operators, one of whom is a woman they both take a fance to, thinkgs get out of hand.
